The Scott

Scottsdale, Arizona | 2017

Located in a desert, The Scott is an oasis of calm and peace, and much of that is offered by the lush vegetation found throughout the site. Handwerk’s involvement with The Scott was to design and fabricate some of the art found in the common spaces around the hotel-including hand-painted old prints of tropical agricultural scenes and botanic specimens preserved and presented in shadowboxes. All done by hand, the unique values of the lines and stitches and brushstrokes and sewing all lend themselves to a casual, approachable assemblage that helps set the tone of the hotel as a destination for relaxation.
